PHC moved against imposition of emergency, governor’s rule in KP

PESHAWAR: A petition has been filed in the Peshawar High Court challenging the imposition of an emergency and governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

The petition was filed by Advocate Salman, who has named the President of Pakistan, the Prime Minister, and the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as respondents.

The petitioner argued that the imposition of an emergency and governor’s rule in the province is unconstitutional, illegal, and based on mala fide intentions. He further maintained that the measures violate fundamental rights and undermine the democratic mandate of the people.

The petition requests the Peshawar High Court to declare the imposition of the emergency and governor’s rule null and void and unlawful.

It also seeks the suspension of the notification imposing governor’s rule until the court delivers its final decision on the petition.

The court’s decision on the petition was not mentioned in the available report.
