PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari noted that Punjab had suffered the most damage in the recent calamity, with farmers bearing the brunt.
He said he would approach the CM to declare the flooding in Punjab an agricultural emergency, due to crops being damaged by floodwater.
“In the phase of providing relief, we will request that the PM and provincial government treat this situation as an emergency and provide seeds and fertiliser to affected farmers,” he said.
PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto has said that Indian government had unlawfully refused to accept the Indus Water Treaty and this time had failed to share water data under the accord.
Addressing a press conference during his visit to flood-hit Kasur, the PPP chairman said that India must either abide by the treaty or return Pakistan’s rivers, accusing New Delhi of violating international law. India, he added, had informed at the last moment that water was being released but did not disclose how much.
Bilawal warned that Pakistan would compel India to comply with international laws and accused New Delhi of “waging terrorism with water” by targeting the people of Pakistan.
