The team of Pakistan’s iconic Sufi singer Abida Parveen has dismissed rumours about her health circulating on social media, calling them “baseless” and “blown out of proportion.”
In a statement shared via her official Instagram stories, Parveen’s team reassured fans that the legendary artist is in good health. “Hello, everybody! We have posted about it before, but it seems like it needs to be reiterated. Abida Ji is perfectly healthy and well, Alhamdulillah,” the post read.
The statement criticised the spread of unverified information, particularly by “well-known media outlets” that reported on the singer’s alleged illness without confirmation. “The rumours spreading on social media lately have blown out of proportion, and well-known media outlets have been reporting on news without confirmation and absolutely no substantial proof,” the message added.

Expressing gratitude to fans for their concern, Parveen’s team urged everyone to verify information before sharing it further. “We greatly appreciate your concern, but please verify the information you receive on social media, instead of peddling it forward with no authentication,” the team said.
They also requested media organisations to remove all unverified posts regarding her health. “We formally request all media outlets to take down all of the unverified posts in relation to Abida Ji’s health. We apologise for the concern and disarray this may have caused to her fans. Keep her in your prayers,” the statement concluded.
The clarification came after false reports claiming Parveen was gravely ill — with some even alleging she had been denied hospital treatment — spread widely over the weekend. The singer’s team hopes the official statement will put an end to the speculation.
