Khawaja Asif rejects Afghan claim about TTP militants

Pakistan has strongly rejected the Afghan delegation’s claim that members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) crossing the border are merely Pakistani refugees returning home, calling the explanation illogical and insincere.

According to diplomatic sources, Afghan representatives argued that those entering Pakistan were displaced Pakistani nationals living on Afghan soil. However, officials in Islamabad questioned how “refugees” could be carrying heavy weapons and infiltrating through remote mountain passes, rather than using official border crossings or standard transportation routes.

“This interpretation clearly exposes the lack of sincerity in Afghanistan’s intentions,” a senior security official said, adding that genuine refugees return through verified and documented procedures, not armed and covert movements across difficult terrain.

Pakistan has repeatedly expressed concern over the presence of TTP militants operating from Afghan territory, urging Kabul to fulfill its commitments under international and bilateral agreements to prevent its soil from being used against Pakistan.

Security experts note that recent incidents along the border underscore the need for stronger coordination and effective border management between the two countries to ensure peace and stability in the region.
