Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during his official visit to Tehran, where both sides discussed ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring regional peace.
The high-level meeting focused on the evolving situation following the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, as well as prospects for a comprehensive peace agreement. Both leaders reviewed progress made during earlier rounds of dialogue held in Islamabad and exchanged views on the next phase of negotiations.
President Pezeshkian appreciated Pakistan for its “effective and responsible” role in de-escalating tensions and facilitating dialogue between conflicting sides. He acknowledged Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts and thanked Pakistani authorities for hosting Iranian delegations during critical talks.
The meeting was also attended by Mohsin Naqvi and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, reflecting the importance both countries attach to the ongoing peace process.
During the discussions, President Pezeshkian reiterated Iran’s commitment to peace and stability in the region. He emphasized that greater unity among Muslim countries is essential to counter external pressures and prevent further conflict.
Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting diplomatic solutions and maintaining regional stability through dialogue and cooperation.
Earlier, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir met Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf in Tehran.
