An important meeting of the Gilgit-Baltistan Parliamentary Board of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was held under the leadership of party chief Nawaz Sharif, where top party leaders reviewed the political situation and election strategy for the region.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. PML-N leaders Marriyum Aurangzeb and Khawaja Saad Rafique were also present.
During the session, the Gilgit-Baltistan leadership briefed the party on the challenges being faced in the region. A detailed review of the political landscape across all 24 constituencies of Gilgit-Baltistan was conducted, with the committee presenting its report. The meeting was held in two sessions, during which each constituency was discussed individually.
Party leaders also reviewed the possibilities of seat adjustments in Gilgit-Baltistan as part of their broader electoral strategy.
Addressing the meeting, Nawaz Sharif emphasized that the party would contest the upcoming elections in Gilgit-Baltistan based on its performance. He reaffirmed the commitment to initiating a new phase of development in the region and stated that the process of construction and progress would be restarted.
He stressed that party tickets would be awarded strictly on merit, urging leaders to keep the party’s track record in mind during the election campaign.
According to sources, the party leadership also expressed its desire to form a single government in Gilgit-Baltistan following the elections.
