Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has de notified two political parties on Thursday.
According to an official notification, the former Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry’s Pakistan Justice and Democratic Party and Ishtehkam-e- Pakistan Tehreek were delisted as political parties.
According to a notification, both political parties were delisted for violating the Elections Act and Rules. Both parties neither hold intra-party elections nor submit annual returns despite the fact that Election Commission gave them several chances.
The Election Commission ordered the delisting of both the parties on April 16. The action was taken on the recommendation of the Political Finance Wing of the Election Commission. Election symbols were also withdrawn from both the political parties. The Election Commission will soon release the latest list of political parties.
