ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is playing an important role at the global level in promoting peace, dialogue, and mutual trust.
Addressing the 6th International Paigham-e-Islam Conference organized by Pakistan Ulema Council, he congratulated the organizers and termed the gathering a strong example of unity and harmony within the Muslim Ummah.
The prime minister said that the presence of scholars, religious leaders, and distinguished guests from around the world reflects that Islam is a religion of peace, tolerance, and brotherhood. He added that the challenges faced by the Muslim Ummah can be resolved through unity, mutual respect, and exemplary conduct.
Iran-US talks and Pakistan’s role
Referring to recent talks between Iran and the United States, he said that both countries coming together on a single platform at Pakistan’s invitation is clear evidence of global trust in Pakistan and a positive step toward regional peace.
He added that Pakistan has historically played a vital role in promoting global peace and unity among Muslim countries, while appreciating the efforts of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and other friendly nations in facilitating dialogue.
The prime minister said the recent developments in Islamabad reflect international confidence and can lay the foundation for lasting peace in the region.
Historic diplomatic development
He said that for the first time since 1979, US and Iranian leadership held face-to-face talks in Islamabad, calling it a historic development.
According to the prime minister, this achievement reflects Pakistan’s strategic approach, sincerity, and firm commitment to peace.
Appreciation for global partners
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed hope that the talks will soon lead to lasting peace and help prevent further loss of life in the region.
He paid special tribute to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his effective role in the peace process and also appreciated the efforts of China, Türkiye, and other friendly countries.
He highlighted the diplomatic efforts of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and acknowledged the role of Army Chief General Asim Munir in bringing both sides to the table for ceasefire and dialogue.
The prime minister concluded that these efforts will be written in golden words in history and Pakistan’s role will always be remembered.
