Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said Pakistan should not trust what he called “mixed signals” from the Afghan Taliban regarding the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
He said reports of the Taliban leadership restricting TTP activities are not confirmed on the ground. He added that there is no visible change in militant activity.
Asif said statements about stopping cross-border attacks should come directly from the Afghan Taliban leadership. He stressed that unofficial claims are not enough.
He warned that relying on unclear messages from Kabul could be dangerous for regional stability.
The defence minister said Pakistan has not seen any real reduction in cross-border terrorism. He said militant networks are still active.
He added that Pakistan wants a clear and permanent end to any support for TTP elements. He said ambiguity is increasing security concerns.
Asif referred to ongoing tensions along the border. He said Pakistan has already responded strongly to militant attacks in the past.
He warned that any future aggression would face an even stronger response from Pakistan.
He also said Pakistan remains alert to possible proxy warfare attempts in the region. He said national security is a top priority.
The minister said diplomatic talks between Islamabad and Kabul have not yet produced a clear solution. He said the issue remains unresolved.
He urged Afghan authorities to take a clear and public stance against terrorism. He said peace depends on decisive action, not mixed messaging.
