CTD recommends removing internal officers over links to Anmol Pinky

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has formally suggested the termination of two internal personnel following an investigation into their unauthorised communications with the suspected criminal figure, Anmol Pinky. The recommendation targets Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Kafeel Awan and Constable Ali Qureshi, who came under scrutiny after allegations surfaced regarding their connections to the high-profile suspect.

The investigation into the two officers intensified following the arrest of a motorcycle rider who was allegedly operating on behalf of Anmol Pinky’s illicit network. Investigators subsequently opened an inquiry to examine the nature of the officers’ communications and contacts with the suspect. Pinky herself was detained earlier in May during a joint raid conducted by police and a civilian intelligence agency at her Garden apartment, where authorities seized narcotics and an unlicensed weapon.

A comprehensive inquiry report detailing the activities of both officers has now been finalised and submitted to senior authorities. The development follows an operation where both Awan and Qureshi were taken into departmental custody, subjected to formal interrogations, and later released pending a final decision on their future employment.

To solidify the evidentiary basis for the dismissal recommendation, investigators subjected the personal mobile devices of both officers to detailed digital forensic examinations. Additionally, financial investigators retrieved and analysed the comprehensive bank transcripts of the accused to identify any irregular financial footprints linked to the case.
