PML-N leader Hina Parvez Butt has strongly criticized the upcoming drama Pinky, arguing that individuals surrounded by controversy should not be turned into television role models.
Reacting to reports that the project is based on the life of “Pinky Pir,” Hina called the idea an insult to women who have made genuine contributions to society and questioned why the entertainment industry continues to prioritize sensational stories for ratings and viewership.
Produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi, the upcoming drama has already generated significant discussion online. However, Hina Parvez Butt believes the project raises serious questions about the type of personalities being highlighted on television and the messages being sent to audiences.
Taking to social media, she strongly opposed the reported portrayal of Pinky Pir, describing the idea as both inappropriate and disappointing.
In her statement, she wrote, “If someone is making a drama on the real Pinky Pir, then this is an utterly shameful and brazen act. Pinky is no role model for dramas to be made on. This is an insult to all those women who have played a positive role in society and are still doing so.”
She further questioned the growing tendency to focus on controversial personalities rather than celebrating people who have made a positive impact on society.
“How long will we keep presenting such people as role models just for the sake of viewership and money?” she asked.
Her comments quickly sparked reactions across social media, with many users supporting her stance while others argued that television dramas can explore controversial figures without necessarily glorifying them.
