Interior Ministry denies meeting between Mohsin Naqvi and KP CM Afridi

The Ministry of Interior has categorically denied reports claiming that Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, describing the information circulating on media and social media platforms as baseless and fabricated.

In a statement, the ministry’s spokesperson said there had been no meeting of any kind between the interior minister and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister.

The spokesperson added that all reports suggesting such a meeting were contrary to the facts, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.

Separately, Mohsin Naqvi visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Peshawar, where he met injured soldiers of the Pakistan Army and the Federal Constabulary receiving medical treatment.

During the visit, Naqvi met each injured officer and soldier individually, inquiring about their health and recovery. He also received detailed briefings from doctors regarding their treatment and medical condition.

The interior minister praised the injured personnel for their courage, dedication and commitment to duty, describing their sacrifices as a reflection of the highest traditions of national service.

He expressed his best wishes for their speedy recovery and emphasised the importance of providing them with the best possible medical care and rehabilitation facilities.

Addressing the wounded soldiers, Naqvi said they had displayed exceptional bravery in countering the activities of militant groups referred to by the government as “Fitna al-Khawarij”.

He told the injured officers and soldiers that their actions had helped thwart the designs of terrorists and safeguard the country’s security.

“You are the heroes of the nation, and we are proud of your sacrifices,” the minister said, adding that Pakistan’s security and stability depended upon the vigilance and dedication of its armed forces and law enforcement personnel.

He further remarked that the country remained secure because of the courage and determination of its servicemen, saying that no hostile design could succeed while such personnel continued to defend the nation.

The visit highlighted the government’s support for security forces engaged in counterterrorism operations and recognised the sacrifices made by personnel working to maintain peace and stability across the country.

Also present on the occasion were Shahab Ali Shah, Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Nazeer Ahmed Gada, Inspector General of the Federal Constabulary.
