Somali pirates release another video message of Pakistani hostages

Somali pirates have released another video message of Pakistani hostages in which they are complaining about shortage of food items, including water, it was reported on Friday.

In the video message, the crew members of MT Honour 25 appealed to ensure their safe and secure return.

The hostages said that they are living in miserable conditions and that only rice is being provided to them as food.

They are begging to Somali pirates daily for their food. The firing in the surroundings of the ship is also continued while a wave of harassment gripped the entire ship.

The pirates demanded that a true representative from the company should hold talks with them. They refused to recognize the pirates as company representatives.

They appealed to the Pakistani and Indonesian governments to take immediate steps for the safe release.

They said that despite the passage of two months, no practical step is adopted for their safe return.

The video also showed the hostages’ deteriorating health condition, in which they are falling sick.

The MT Honour 25, carrying 17 crew members, including 10 Pakistanis, was hijacked near Somalia’s semi-autonomous Puntland region on April 21.

Families of the hostages have since expressed growing concern over the deteriorating conditions aboard the vessel.

On May 19, 2026, Somali pirates demanded a ransom of three million dollars for the release of seventeen hostages, including ten Pakistanis.

During ongoing communication between the pirates and the Ansar Burney Trust, the pirate leader sent a WhatsApp message on Monday stating for the first time that the release of all hostages, the ship, and its cargo would only be possible if they were paid three million dollars.
