LAHORE: The Multan bench of the Lahore High Court has maintained the suspension of arrest warrants issued against former federal minister Shireen Mazari in an anti-corruption case and adjourned the hearing until November 3.
Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh heard the case concerning arrest warrants issued against Mazari by an anti-corruption court.
During the hearing, Mazari’s counsel, Syed Muzammil Hassan Bukhari, said the Anti-Corruption Department had previously cleared his client of the allegations.
The lawyer said no land records (jamabandi) or official documents had been recovered from Mazari’s possession.
He said the allegations of tampering with official records were baseless and that his client had been implicated in the case on the basis of a supplementary statement recorded from an official under Section 161 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Bukhari said Mazari had previously been arrested on May 21, 2022, and the Islamabad High Court had subsequently ordered her release.
After hearing the arguments, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh maintained the suspension of the arrest warrants against Mazari and scheduled the next hearing for November 3.
