Azad Jammu and Kashmir will celebrate its 79th Foundation Day on October 24 with the main ceremony scheduled at Muzaffarabad’s Parade Ground at 9am, it was reported on Friday.
AJK President Dr Najeeb Naqi will attend as chief guest, raise the flag, inspect the police parade and address the gathering. The ceremony will also feature Quranic recitation, Naat, the national anthem and the distribution of honorary medals.
Meanwhile, AJK PM Iftikhar Gilani met a delegation of the National Security and War Course in Muzaffarabad, describing Kashmir as a nuclear flashpoint in South Asia and stressing that lasting peace required implementation of UN Security Council resolutions.
Gilani said the people of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir continued to face Indian atrocities. He also accused India of backing violent elements to create unrest in AJK, adding that Kashmiris rejected violence and believed in democratic and electoral processes.
Reaffirming the strong religious, ideological and spiritual ties between Pakistan and Kashmir, the prime minister said Kashmir was incomplete without Pakistan.
