Lahore sees second day of rain as temperatures drop, More showers forecast

Early-morning rainfall for the second consecutive day on Monday brought a noticeable chill to the weather in the provincial capital, prompting many residents to pull out warmer clothing as cool winds swept across the city.

The downpour, which began during the early hours, was preceded by strong gusts of wind overnight. Light to moderate showers were later reported in several neighbourhoods, while the sky remained partly cloudy until around midday, creating a subdued and wintry atmosphere across the metropolis.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the recent spell of rain has contributed to a significant dip in temperatures. The mercury was recorded at around 15°C in the morning, with the daytime high expected to reach 23°C, while the minimum temperature may drop further to 13°C. Humidity levels were reported at 84 percent, accompanied by gentle winds blowing at approximately 6 kilometres per hour.

Weather officials have indicated that partly cloudy conditions are likely to persist over the next few days, with intermittent chances of rainfall continuing in the city. Residents have been advised to remain cautious, particularly during early morning and late evening hours when temperatures tend to fall further.

Beyond Lahore, the PMD has also forecast rain, gusty winds and thunderstorms at isolated locations in upper parts of the country, including areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. In some localities, there is also a possibility of hailstorms and strong windstorms, which could disrupt routine activities and traffic flow.

Meanwhile, temperatures recorded in major cities earlier in the day highlighted the ongoing cool spell in northern regions. These included 10°C in Islamabad, 25°C in Karachi, 11°C in Peshawar, 7°C in Quetta, 7°C in Gilgit, 3°C in Murree, and 12°C in Muzaffarabad.
