PTI sit-in on Adiala Road ends, clashes leave several injured

A sit-in by workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Adiala Road came to an end after several hours on Tuesday, following tensions between protesters and law enforcement.

The protest was led by Aleema Khan, elder sister of the jailed former prime minister Imran Khan. She led the sit-in for nearly six and a half hours after she was not granted permission to meet Khan, who is also founder of the PTI. According to reports, no one was able to meet the PTI founder during the day.

The situation turned tense as police attempted to disperse the crowd, leading to clashes. Authorities resorted to shelling, during which several PTI workers were detained.

Police officials said that five personnel, including two Station House Officers (SHOs), were injured after protesters resorted to stone-pelting.

The protesters eventually dispersed, but the incident highlights the continuing tensions between PTI supporters and authorities over access to the party leadership.
