Dar, Saudi FM discuss Lebanon situation, stress ceasefire compliance

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and expressed concern over the ongoing bombing in Lebanon.

According to the Foreign Office, both leaders discussed the evolving regional situation and voiced concern over violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon. They emphasized the need for full respect and strict implementation of the ceasefire agreement.

The two leaders also underscored the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region. During the conversation, Ishaq Dar appreciated Saudi Arabia’s support for achieving lasting peace.

However, Despite a recent ceasefire with Iran, Israel has carried out a series of large-scale airstrikes across Lebanon, causing massive destruction and a rising death toll. According to Lebanon’s Civil Defense and Ministry of Health, at least 254 people have been killed and more than 1,100 injured since the attacks began.

Beirut, the capital, bore the brunt of the strikes, with 92 fatalities and over 742 people wounded. Southern suburbs of the city also suffered heavily, resulting in 61 deaths and 200 injuries. Other regions impacted include Baalbek (18 dead), Hermel (9 dead), Nabatieh (28 dead), Sidon (12 dead), and Tyre (17 dead.

Rescue operations are ongoing, as officials warn that casualties may rise due to people still trapped under rubble. Hospitals have declared emergency protocols, and authorities are appealing to citizens for urgent blood donations to cope with the overwhelming influx of injured civilians.
