The Election Commission has released the schedule for by-elections on vacant seats of various union councils across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), outlining a comprehensive timeline for the electoral process.
According to the announced program, candidates can submit their nomination papers until April 16, 2026, while scrutiny of the papers will be completed on April 17. The deadline for filing appeals against the scrutiny is April 18, with decisions on these appeals to be finalized by April 20.
The Election Commission will issue the final list of candidates on April 21, followed by the allotment of election symbols on April 22.
Polling for the by-elections will take place on April 25, 2026, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm without any break.
The Election Commission stated that all necessary arrangements have been finalized to ensure a transparent and fair electoral process. Instructions have been issued to district administrations for the deployment of security personnel and polling staff.
Election activities have intensified in the respective constituencies, with candidates stepping up their preparations. The Commission reaffirmed that all stages of the electoral process will be conducted in accordance with the law and within the stipulated timeline.
