Electricity prices across Pakistan, including for consumers of K-Electric, are likely to decrease under a proposed quarterly adjustment submitted to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority, it was reported on Wednesday.
According to the application, power distribution companies have sought relief of 63.94 billion rupees for consumers for the period from January to March 2026.
The request has been filed as part of the regular quarterly tariff adjustment mechanism.
The regulator has scheduled a hearing on the petition for 19 May, where the proposal will be reviewed before any final decision is taken.
Details of the application show that capacity charges decreased by 36.84 billion rupees during the three-month period.
In addition, a reduction of 11.24 billion rupees has been requested under system usage charges and market operation fees.
A further decrease of 23.51 billion rupees has been proposed under incremental units, contributing to the overall relief package.
If approved, the adjustment is expected to ease the financial burden on electricity consumers across the country.
