The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has launched a nationwide “Go Cashless” campaign to promote digital payments and reduce reliance on cash transactions within cattle markets during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha across the country.
Under the initiative, the central bank aims to encourage buyers, traders, and service providers to use digital payment systems instead of cash during Eid-related cattle trading activities.
SBP, in partnership with banks, has rolled out the “Go Cashless” campaign across 54 cattle markets in 22 districts throughout Pakistan.
The public is strongly encouraged to take advantage of these convenient and secure digital financial services during the Eid-ul-Azha period.
The central bank said 22 commercial banks would establish special camps in cattle markets to facilitate buyers and livestock traders.
Payments will be made possible through QR codes, the Raast digital payment system and mobile banking services.
Officials said livestock traders, transporters and other service providers associated with cattle markets would also be brought into the digital financial system.
The SBP further announced temporary relaxation in transaction and account balance limits from May 14 to June 5 to support increased digital transactions during the Eid season.
Mobile banking vans, ATMs and cash deposit machines will also be installed at selected cattle markets to improve banking access for consumers and traders.
The central bank urged citizens to prefer digital payments over cash, saying electronic transactions were safer, easier and more transparent, while also helping promote a modern financial system in the country.
