Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has approached the Islamabad High Court. He has requested permission to meet PTI founder Imran Khan. The meeting is sought for consultations on the upcoming provincial budget 2026–27.
Afridi said the budget is already in its final stage. However, he stated that it still requires final input from Imran Khan. He said the provincial government wants to align the budget with the PTI founder’s vision.
The chief minister said the people of K-P had given their mandate based on Imran Khan’s leadership. He added that consultation with him is necessary before presenting the budget.
Afridi also spoke to reporters outside the court. He said K-P is being treated unfairly in financial matters. He alleged that the province is being ignored in federal development planning.
He claimed that K-P is being “punished” for its political position. He said the focus of authorities is on political retaliation instead of economic issues.
Afridi also raised concerns over Imran Khan’s health. He claimed that his eyesight has been affected and that restrictions on meetings are unjust. He said Imran Khan is being denied access to his family, lawyers, and party leaders.
He further said that K-P is facing serious economic challenges. He mentioned rising inflation, unemployment, and poverty in the country.
Afridi also claimed that security conditions in K-P have worsened. He said terrorism has increased in the province. He added that industries are shutting down and investment is leaving the region.
The chief minister announced that his party will stage a protest outside Parliament during the upcoming budget session. The session is expected to begin on June 10.
He said the province will continue to demand its constitutional rights. He also said K-P will not accept unfair financial treatment.
Finance Adviser Muzammil Aslam also spoke on the occasion. He said the budget process has faced delays. He added that key economic meetings were postponed.
He said provincial governments have raised concerns over tax targets. He also said development funds remain limited for K-P.
Aslam further said that coordination issues exist between federal and provincial authorities. He added that final decisions on the budget are still pending.
The case filed by the K-P chief minister is expected to be heard soon in the Islamabad High Court.
