Authorities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have arrested 72 individuals linked to the banned Jammu and Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee as part of an ongoing operation aimed at maintaining public order and security.
The arrests come shortly after the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee was officially declared a banned organization, marking a significant step in the government’s efforts to address security concerns in Azad Kashmir.
According to a statement issued by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) spokesperson, law enforcement agencies are taking all necessary legal steps to safeguard the lives and property of citizens. The operation was launched following concerns over activities allegedly carried out by members of the prohibited organization.
Police officials reported recovering weapons, communication equipment, and documents considered suspicious during the arrests. The seized materials are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
The spokesperson stated that certain members of the banned group had been involved in actions that disrupted law and order under the guise of addressing public issues. Authorities maintain that strict measures are being taken to prevent any activity that could threaten peace and stability in the region.
