Two women arrested for throwing acid on man in Kasur

Kasur police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two young women for allegedly throwing acid on a man, following a personal dispute near Rangpur village in Kasur, leaving him with facial injuries.

According to police, one of the accused, identified as Rimsha Bibi, called Ehsan and asked him to take her to Rangpur, a nearby village,  on his motorcycle.

When they reached a deserted spot, she allegedly took a bottle of acid from her purse and threw it at him before fleeing the scene.

The injured man, a resident of Kot Molvi Abdul Qadir, was initially shifted to the DHQ Hospital and later referred to Lahore for further treatment.

Police said the acid had been diluted, resulting in relatively minor burn injuries.

Investigators said Rimsha Bibi had been divorced just two months after her marriage and was currently employed at a departmental store.

According to police, Ehsan had previously divorced three women and was allegedly seeking to marry Rimsha.

Investigators believed the suspect was unaware of his marital history and allegedly decided to attack him after learning about his previous marriages.

In a separate version of events presented earlier by the complainant, the victim alleged that the attack had been orchestrated by his former wife and claimed cash, documents and a gold chain were also taken after the assault.

Meanwhile, the suspect’s family alleged that the victim had been harassing the woman and pressuring her to marry him.

Police are investigating all claims made by both sides.

A case has been registered against the suspect, while police said further investigations are underway.
