Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has called on Chief Minister Sohal Afridi to summon an in-camera session of the assembly to discuss the growing threat of terrorism in the province.
Talking to media men in Swat on Tuesday, Faisal Karim Kundi said terrorists were receiving support from across the border and alleged that the Afghan government had failed to act despite repeated identification of the issue.
He said the federal and provincial governments should adopt a unified policy against terrorism and added that all political parties were on the same page against terrorism.
The governor said KP police and security forces had been fighting terrorists for years and acknowledged that the province had not been able to equip its police force with modern weapons.
Later, the governor visited Saidu Sharif Hospital and met people injured in the Swat suicide blast. He inquired about their health and directed the hospital administration to provide the injured with the best possible medical treatment. He also prayed for their early and complete recovery.
Faisal Karim Kundi also said Punjab had purchased a helicopter because they have greater resources at their expense and stated that the KP chief minister could also acquire one if needed.
Kundi praised the provincial government’s decision to retain tax exemption in the Malakand Division and said he would discuss the matter with PML-N senior leader Amir Muqam and raise the tax issue with the federal government.
