Efforts have been set in motion within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to secure the release of Bushra Bibi, wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, as party leadership begins internal consultations and confidence-building steps.
According to sources, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar has initiated meetings with the party founder’s family as well as detained party leaders to develop a coordinated strategy. These discussions are aimed at creating unity within the party and ensuring a more measured approach moving forward.
As part of these efforts, the party leadership has reportedly convinced the family to adopt a softer stance, particularly in public messaging. It has been agreed that no controversial statements will be made outside the jail, and social media activity regarding Bushra Bibi will also be kept restrained.
In addition, PTI is expected to avoid holding press conferences that could escalate tensions around the issue. The focus, according to insiders, is to pursue Bushra Bibi’s release strictly through legal channels rather than political confrontation.
Sources further revealed that appeals filed by detained PTI leaders in Kot Lakhpat Jail are likely to be heard soon, which could play a key role in the broader legal strategy.
Barrister Gohar recently visited Kot Lakhpat Jail, where he met several incarcerated party leaders. Following this, he also held a detailed meeting with Imran Khan’s sister, Noreen Niazi, to discuss the way forward.
Looking ahead, plans are in place for further meetings involving senior political figures, including Mahmood Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas, who are expected to engage again with the family to maintain trust and alignment.
Overall, these developments indicate a shift toward a more strategic and legal-focused approach by PTI, as it works to secure Bushra Bibi’s release while managing internal dynamics and public messaging carefully.
