The Court sources said that in 2023, 85,000 cases were filed; in 2024, 91,0000; and in 2025, the number of divorce cases rose to 1,00,000.
In Islamabad, more than 30 court marriages are recorded. Records showed that during the last four years, 38 cases were those in which a divorce case was filed within one to three months of marriage.
Lawyers said that the majority of divorce cases are being filed due to love marriages. Lawyers further stated that due to the use of drugs, unemployment is the basic factor for the rise in divorce cases.
From an Islamic perspective, while divorce is permissible, it is among the most disliked actions in the sight of Allah.
This calls for action not only from the government but also from Islamic scholars, who should educate the public in the light of the Holy Quran.
Additionally, workshops and training sessions are necessary to help people recognize their responsibilities towards one another and protect the well-being of children.
