Sindh Assembly passes bills on health, security and workers welfare

KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly, in a session chaired by Deputy Speaker Anthony Naveed, passed several important bills related to health, education, security and workers welfare.

During the session, Sindh Law Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar presented an amendment bill to the Sindh Blood Transfusion Act, which was approved by the house.

The assembly also passed legislation related to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and National Institute of Child Health, defining the regulation and management structure of both institutions.

According to the bill, complete administrative control of the two hospitals will remain with the provincial government.

Lawmakers also approved a bill aimed at regulating private security companies, private guards and security training institutes operating in Sindh.

In addition, a medical and dental education bill was introduced and passed, paving the way for the establishment of the Sindh Medical and Dental Education Council.

The session also saw unanimous approval of the Sindh Workers Welfare Fund Bill, aimed at strengthening welfare measures for workers across the province.
