Punjab govt resolves 1,005 land cases in just two days under new property ordinance

LAHORE: The Punjab government has successfully resolved 1,005 land disputes within just 48 hours, setting a new record under the recently introduced property ordinance.

This swift action has brought long-awaited justice to over 1,000 families who had been entangled in lengthy legal battles over land ownership.

This breakthrough came after a key meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, during which officials from the Revenue Department provided a detailed briefing on the execution of the new ordinance.

Speaking at the meeting, the chief minister emphasized that cases related to women’s land rights would be given top priority. She made it clear that once a decision is made, possession will be handed over immediately, and there will be zero tolerance for delays, favoritism, or negligence.

“Land ownership is only complete when the rightful owner takes physical possession. Decisions must not remain on paper, but should be visible on the ground,” she stated.
She further assured that the rightful owners would have exclusive rights to their land, “whether it be a mere marla, kanal, or acre”.

CM Maryam also urged citizens whose land or property is under illegal occupation to immediately approach their relevant Deputy Commissioner’s office. She assured that these cases would be resolved quickly, within a matter of days.
