ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned of rain, thunderstorms and possible hailstorms in different parts of the country from April 18 to April 23.
According to the advisory, upper and central Punjab are likely to receive rainfall on April 18 and 19. Some areas may also experience hailstorms. Southern Punjab is expected to get light rain at a few places during the same period.
In Sindh, rain is forecast in Khairpur, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Umerkot, Mithi, Badin and Karachi on April 19 and 20. Coastal areas, including Gwadar, may receive rainfall on April 19, 20 and 23. The authority also noted that temperatures in several districts of Sindh are expected to stay above normal during the day.
Widespread rain is predicted in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Dir, Malakand, Charsadda, Abbottabad, Bannu, Buner and Peshawar. Snowfall is also likely in upper and mountainous areas of the province.
The NDMA has warned that strong winds, heavy rain and hail could damage weak buildings, trees and electricity systems. Slippery roads may also cause traffic problems.
Earlier, the Meteorological Department had forecast heavy rain between April 16 and 18 and cautioned about possible landslides in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. There is also a risk of rising water levels in local streams and nullahs during the spell.
