Security forces recovered a suspicious rocket near a check post in the vicinity of the Kartarpur Corridor in Shakargarh, prompting emergency security measures in the area, officials said Monday.
According to security sources, personnel stationed at the check post spotted the suspicious object and immediately informed the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS). BDS officials reached the spot and took the rocket into custody.
BDS authorities said the recovered rocket weighed approximately seven kilograms and was found in an activated state.
As a precaution, emergency security arrangements were imposed in the surrounding area to prevent any untoward incident.
Due to security concerns, the rocket was shifted to an undisclosed location for safe deactivation. Officials said an investigation into the incident is underway, while security in the area has been further tightened.
