The Government of Punjab has introduced advanced EMG-150 anti-drone guns to protect the province’s airspace. The move comes as part of efforts to counter the growing threat posed by unauthorized and hostile drones.
These modern anti-drone systems have been handed over to Punjab Civil Defence. The EMG-150 gun can effectively neutralize drones within a range of two to three kilometers. It is designed to disable targets mid-air with high accuracy.
Officials confirmed that the first unit has been deployed in the Rawalpindi Division. Authorities plan to expand the deployment across the province in phases. The Home Department will provide these systems to Civil Defence units in multiple districts to ensure wider coverage.
Punjab Home Secretary Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi stated that the EMG-150 is equipped with a high-gain directional antenna. This feature allows operators to precisely target drones in flight. The system works by interfering with the drone’s control signals. As a result, the drone is forced to either land immediately or becomes completely inoperable.
