IHC fixes hearing on petition seeking access to Bushra Bibi

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has scheduled a hearing on a petition requesting permission to meet Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan.

The case was taken up after initial objections raised by the Registrar’s Office were removed. Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir said the petition will now be heard on Monday.

The petition was filed by Bushra Bibi’s daughter, Mubashra, seeking access to her mother. During the hearing, lawyers including Salman Akram Raja, Ali Bukhari, Naeem Panjotha and Khalid Yousaf appeared before the court.

Justice Tahir observed that such matters are usually resolved after coordination with the relevant authorities. He suggested that jail officials should be contacted if this had not already been done.

The petitioner’s lawyer told the court that family meetings had earlier been allowed occasionally but were now completely blocked. He argued that the matter was urgent because Bushra Bibi recently underwent surgery and her medical condition required special attention.

The court directed that the petition be formally numbered and confirmed that the hearing will take place on the first working day after the objections were cleared.
